Creating a Circular Warp for Easier Tablet Weaving
Instructor: Master Nishigori Mitsumune
Location: Front classroom by restrooms
In this class, we will be learning how to greatly simplify the preparation step of tablet weaving by doing away with threading of individual tablets and instead threading all of them all at once via a circular warping technique. This can take the warping stage of tablet weaving from multiple hours to mere minutes. This method is suitable for any weaving method where every tablet gets the same threading, although it can accommodate small deviations, such as adding borders. I will be walking through the steps of how to make these changes on the fly and help students who wish to do so add this to their pattern. No loom is necessary, but if you wish to bring your own so we can transfer the warp to your loom, that will be fine, time permitting. Instructor will be bringing materials including acrylic yarn and paper tablets, sufficient for a 2 meter long warp, although you are encouraged to bring your own if you have them so that you can choose to use the materials you are more comfortable with or prefer to use.
