Billy and the Box Kid emerged as a duo in the Bend open mic scene when singer-songwriter Anderson Koenig (also known as Billy) and Scottie McClelland (the Box Kid) collided, both searching for an outlet for their musical talent. They combined Koenig’s fast-paced acoustic country Rock and Roll with McClelland’s high-energy and distinctive style of playing the Cajon aka “box drum”. The band has since expanded into a five-piece with the addition of Tommy Lutz on mandolin, Eric Nizol on lead guitar and Ben Woessner on bass. Along with other members of the Bend music community, they create a unique sound that’s ripe to keep your dancing feet moving. Their music is influenced by 1950s Rock and Roll, country, and bluegrass, with a hint of Southern blues. Their mission is to get folks out on the dance floor and stomping their feet.</p>
