Former Creswell man trying to rebuild legacy after wildfire
LA PINE – Residents in and around La Pine on July 16 have since returned to their homes after the Darlene Fire ravaged the surrounding countryside. But for some, it was not a welcoming sight. Sunset for Cottage Grove’s Sunshine General
Cottage Grove lost two institutions this year: The first being the little store that could, Sunshine General Store, which in May finally ran out of steam after serving the community for 45 years. The second being Gordon Beaman, one of the store’s original owners and the glue who held it together for all those years. Beaman peacefully passed away, July 20. As sad as these two losses are, it is perhaps fitting that they should go together; Gordon was really attached to the store and was a force of constancy at Sunshine. It would be hard to imagine one without the other.

Creswell: Briggs’ career is all about second chances – from PCs to playing music
CRESWELL – Ransom Briggs didn’t even own a tie when he landed his first IT interview. “I was in my early 20s and I had to wear a suit and tie for the first time,” Briggs recalled Friday in his office. “I had an interview with the IT director and she looked at my resume and saw there was nothing there, but we talked and she really liked me. But she said we needed to bring in the general manager.
