Grove Council OKs city manager’s performance

COTTAGE GROVE – The Cottage Grove City Council met in executive session Monday night to “review and discuss the performance of the City Manager and to review a confidential legal memorandum from the City Attorney to the City Council.”

The executive session was called by Mayor Candace Solesbee after The Chronicle reported on the contents of the internal investigation of former Cottage Grove Police Chief Scott Shepherd and Captain Conrad Gagner – an investigation that was conducted by Meyers.

After the over two-hour performance evaluation was completed, the council convened in their regular session meeting and released the following statement:

“The council has reviewed the underlying documents and information related to the ongoing issues and investigations at the police department. Today, a majority of the council is satisfied with the city manager’s performance and handling of the tumultuous situation. Absent new information, the Council is moving forward in a positive direction.”
