Peggy and Dan Grousbeck of Creswell are in the business of beautification, and on Sunday, April 15, they’ll bring the spring season front and center with their annual Plant Sale, held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the nursery at 82185 Davisson Road, Creswell.
This is the Grousbecks’ sixth year running this annual spring sale. They have been in business for over 25 years. For $15, gardeners will receive a 12-inch planter and some dirt from the Grousbecks. With that, gardeners can visit the first three of Dan’s five greenhouses and stuff their planter full of perennials, annuals, vegetables and the like. If you can fit it, you can take it.
After Dan was hurt in in an accident in the 1970s, he hung up his trucker’s hat and made friends with a man who sold plants in town. Surprised by Dan’s skill in tending to the flowers, he told Dan he had a knack for planting. Dan enjoyed what he was doing and eventually set up shop. Over the years, the nursery and his following has grown.
Shopping for the perfect plants can summon hunger. Luckily, Joe’s Diner will be at the plant sale with cheeseburgers and pulled pork sandwiches for hungry gardeners.
Also at the event will be handmade crafts vendors, such as bead-making, glasswork, woodwork and more.
